2019 Golden Pinecone Sustainability Awards

The 2019 Golden PineCone Sustainability Awards were hosted by greenUP! and GREENevada and took place at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Reno, NV on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

The theme for the 2019 event was “The Art of Sustainability” and there were recycled art pieces around the event venue. Recognition was given in ten (10) categories:

Educational Program:  Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation Student Stewards outdoor science education program, Reno, NV
Educator:  Kristina Britt – Bordewich-Bray Elementary School, Carson City, NV
Individual/Volunteer:  Christi Cakiroglu, ED, KTMB
Medium to Large Business:  Intuit, Reno, NV
NonProfit:  Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, Reno NV
NonProfit: The Greenhouse Project, Carson City, NV
Government Agency:  Diamond Peak Ski Resort, Incline Village, NV
Small Business: Great Basin Community Food Co-op, Reno, NV
Sustainability Milestone:  City of Reno for the 2017 Sustainability Report
Youth Leadership:  Alex Marsh, Reed High School, Reno, NV

An honorable mention went to RTC for their Lincoln Line zero emission transit route.
