Greening Nevada Overview
greenUP! is hosting a National Grass Roots Broadcasting TV series called “Greening Nevada.” Donna Walden is the series host.
Greening Nevada features businesses and manufacturers with good environmental practices that reduce waste and minimize pollution. The purpose for the show is to demonstrate how sustainable communities will increase economic prosperity and help Nevada transition to a thriving, green economy.
As part of this show, we will feature businesses from a variety of fields. We will showcase the Nevada Green business program and partners who are committed to working with businesses to improve the environmental performance of their operations. We will also feature experts and visionaries in the field of sustainability.
Our hope is that this show inspires everyone to take positive action to preserve our planet.
Description of Greening Nevada TV Episodes
The Greening Nevada TV Series runs every other Wednesday at 4pm. NGBN-Carson City TV is a multi-channel streaming network serving Carson City and the Capital Region. NGBN-CCTV provides all the elements of a traditional local TV station without the antennas or cables. It can be viewed on your TV via RokuTV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and Android TV or on your mobile device, both our IOS and Android app or on the world wide web.
Episode #1: Series overview and interview with sustainability expert, Lynne Barker
As part of the show, we feature experts and visionaries in the field of sustainability. Donna Walden kicks off the NGBN TV series Greening Nevada. She speaks about the need for sustainability in Nevada. Sustainability Consultant, Lynne Barker with more than 20 years-experience in green building, urban sustainability and climate protection talks about the circular economy and Nevada’s sustainability future.
Episode #2 – Interview with Extremely Emollient
Erica Gallegos from Western Nevada College is the GreenBiztracker Manager and helps facilitate the Green Business Program in Northern Nevada. Erica interviews Nevada green certified business owner Brian Morris who the founder of Extremely Emollient, a small manufacturer in Reno that handcrafts organic, vegan, and cruelty free personal care products.

The Nevada Green Business Network is a coalition of organizations that came together to offer a statewide green business certification program. This segment introduces the network, who the partners are and why greening business operations is good for our state.
Episode: Green dining district restaurants: Cucino Lupo’s and So Juicy featured
In this episode, we speak with two restaurant owners that are part of the Carson City Green Dining District, a program that works with restaurants to reduce their waste. James Vandegrift, General Manager of Cucina Lupo, an Italian restaurant by Chef Mark Estee and Kacie DeCruz co-owner of So Juicy, a restaurant focused on health, quality and integrity are interviewed about environmental practices at their establishments.

Erica Gallegos from Western Nevada College is the GreenBiztracker Manager and helps facilitate the Green Business Program in Northern Nevada. Erica interviews Nevada green certified business owner Lara Pearson who discusses her sustainability practices and her law firm, Brand Geek, and is the first office space to be green certified in Incline Village.
Episode: The Golden Pinecone Sustainability Awards Recognizes the Achievements of Educators, Individuals and Businesses
The Golden Pinecone Awards is a legacy event and tradition within the environmental community since 1988 that recognizes the hardworking businesses, organizations, and individuals that make our community healthier, safer, and more sustainable. The 2020 awards were inspired by the City of Reno Sustainability and Climate Action Plan. The eleven (11) 2020 award winners are featured.
Episode: Walden interviews Patty Moen, Recycling Coordinator from Nevada Division of Environmental Protection
As part of Greening Nevada, we interview recycling expert, Patricia Moen, who runs the Northern Nevada Recycling Program for the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection Sustainable Materials Management Group. Patty talks about the recycling rate in Nevada, some innovative programs designed to increase recycling across the state and her vision for the future of sustainability in Nevada.
